Two Ways to Experience the Wild
Both safaris venture deep into the same stunning terrain — the difference is the vehicle, group size, and intimacy of the experience.
Gypsy Safari
An open 4×4 jeep that takes you deep into narrow jungle trails inaccessible to larger vehicles. Six-passenger capacity makes it the most intimate and flexible option — ideal for photography and families.
- Out of 88 total gypsies, 58 can be pre-booked online
- Book seats individually or reserve the full jeep
- Children below 5 years travel free without a seat
- Includes park permit, driver, and certified guide
Canter Safari
A large open-top bus offering an elevated viewing platform — perfect for large groups and budget-conscious travelers. Canters cover the same breathtaking zones and provide an equally thrilling wildlife encounter.
- 52 canters available per shift (morning & evening)
- Booked on per-seat sharing basis
- Great elevated height for photography
- Includes park permit, driver, and certified guide

Understanding the 10 Safari Zones
Ranthambore is divided into 10 forest zones, each with its own terrain, flora and wildlife density.
Zones 1 – 5 (Core)
The original core zones around Padam Talao and Ranthambore Fort — highest tiger sighting probability.
Zones 6 – 8 (Buffer)
Includes Kachida valley and the scenic Jogi Mahal lake area — popular for leopards and crocodiles.
Zones 9 – 10 (Extended)
The buffer expansion zones — ideal in monsoon season when core zones are closed, dense forest trails.
Weekly Closures
Zones 1–5 close every Wednesday. Zones 6–10 close every Tuesday for conservation.
Monsoon Zones
During July, August & September only Zones 6–10 are open. Booking is still available for these dates.
Zone Allocation
You choose zone group 1–7 or 8–10 at booking. Final zone within the group is assigned by the forest department.
Important Rules to Know Before You Go
